Summer intermodal shipping got you down? You are not alone. Industry-wide, pre-peak season congestion has been a major issue. Understanding that it would likely only get worse once the seasonal shipping commenced this fall, Frontline Freight took some pre-emptive operational steps to improve our service into the Northeast as summer drew to a close. The results are in! Despite increasing freight volumes, our linehaul on-time percentage into the Northeast improved tremendously from August to September. We credit this to a few key creative tweaks to our routing and scheduling, and the relief has been incredible. The vast majority of our freight into this region is now delivering early or on-time, which means our customers are largely unaffected by the industry’s continued intermodal congestion challenges. Meeting our published transit times is something that Frontline Freight always strives to do, and we are happy to be on track in the Northeast again. We will continue to do our best to improve upon current service offerings, and we thank our customers for their continued support.
